Parkers Cars for Sale
Affiliate disclosure: we may earn a commission if you take out a product through links on this page. It costs you nothing extra and does not influence how providers are listed.
Two different businesses share the Parkers domain, and telling them apart is the whole point of this page. One is a five-decade-old car research publisher owned by Bauer Media — valuations, expert reviews, running costs, specification data. The other is a classified marketplace bolted onto it, and Parkers does not own a single car in it.
Since 28 August 2024, the cars-for-sale inventory on Parkers has been supplied by the MOTORS/Cazoo network. Before that, from September 2022, it came from heycar, a partnership that gave Parkers access to 80,000 used car ads. Two suppliers in four years, neither of them Parkers.
That inversion — research first, stock second — is the opposite of how Auto Trader and Cazoo are built, and it changes how you should use the site. Parkers is where you work out what a car is worth and whether it is any good. It is not where the widest search happens.

Fifty years of guides, four years of borrowed listings
Parkers began life as Parker's Car Guides and, in the words of its own Digital Operations Director, has been "helping consumers research and buy used cars for over 50 years". The printed price guide was the reference point for a generation of British buyers arguing over a forecourt price.
That heritage is real and it is the asset. What it does not include is a dealer sales force, a stock feed or a network of forecourt relationships. Bauer Media publishes; it does not run a marketplace. Every classified advert you see on Parkers arrived through a commercial agreement with a company that does.
Valuations and running costs — the actual reason to be here
The Parkers valuation is the tool most people come for, and it does something none of the pure marketplaces do: it gives you an independent reference figure to hold a dealer's asking price against.
Alongside it sit expert reviews, spec-by-spec trim data and running-cost breakdowns covering fuel, insurance groups, road tax bands and expected servicing. For anyone deciding which car rather than which advert, that combination is more useful than another 100,000 listings.
Research on Parkers is free to use. What is not verified is Parkers' FCA credit-broker permissions and whether commission arrangements on any finance or leasing products it promotes are disclosed on the page — check the provider's own regulatory disclosures before taking a finance quote through the site, and treat any monthly figure as indicative until confirmed by the actual lender.
The supplier has changed twice since 2022
This is the structural weakness, and it is not a hypothetical one:
- September 2022 — heycar partnership announced, giving Parkers access to 80,000 used car ads.
- 28 August 2024 — that arrangement gave way to the MOTORS/Cazoo network.
Listing depth, geographic coverage, photo quality and the mix of franchised versus independent dealers on Parkers are all determined by whoever holds the contract at the time. If the supplier changes again, the search results change with it, and Parkers has no ability to backfill from its own stock because it has none.
The current live listing count on parkers.co.uk is not verified — it is not published as a headline figure and should be checked on the site itself before you assume the pool is comparable to Auto Trader's 457,000 average live cars.
You are searching Cazoo's stock without leaving Parkers
The MOTORS/Cazoo network sells dealers one invoice covering placement across MOTORS, eBay, Gumtree, Cazoo and Parkers. The pitch to dealers rests on the average car buyer visiting 4.2 websites during a search.
Which means a car you find on Parkers is very likely the same physical vehicle listed on Cazoo and Gumtree. Searching all three is repetition dressed as diligence. If you want a genuinely wider net, the second search should be Auto Trader, which operates an entirely separate inventory pool.
The other consequence: the buyer protections attached to any purchase come from the selling dealer. Parkers introduces you to an advert it did not create, for a car it does not hold, sold by a dealer it has no contract with. It cannot refund you, mediate a dispute or stand behind the description.
A sensible order of operations
The way to get value out of Parkers is to use it for what it owns and go elsewhere for what it borrows:
- Shortlist models using the reviews, spec tables and running-cost data.
- Pull a valuation for the exact year, trim and mileage you are targeting, and write the number down.
- Run the actual search on Auto Trader for breadth, and on Cazoo if you want the network stock in its native home.
- Come back to the Parkers valuation when you negotiate.
Used that way it is a genuinely strong free resource. Used as a primary marketplace, it is a smaller window onto somebody else's inventory.
Where it wins
- Over 50 years of car guide heritage under Bauer Media ownership — the valuations are a recognised independent reference point
- Free expert reviews, trim-level spec data and running-cost breakdowns covering fuel, insurance groups and tax bands
- Genuinely useful for deciding which car to buy, which pure marketplaces handle poorly
- Research and classifieds in one place, so you can move from a review to an advert without changing site
- No cost to use any of the research tools
Where it falls short
- Owns none of its classified stock — every listing is syndicated from a third party
- The supplier has changed twice since 2022 (heycar in 2022, MOTORS/Cazoo from August 2024), so search depth is outside Parkers' control
- Listings duplicate Cazoo and Gumtree, so searching Parkers as well adds little to your options
- Current live listing count is not published — do not assume it matches Auto Trader's 457,000 average live cars
- Parkers' FCA credit-broker permissions and finance commission disclosures are unverified — check directly before taking any quote
- No consumer redress from Parkers itself; all rights run against the selling dealer
Common questions
Does Parkers sell cars itself?
No. Parkers is a Bauer Media publisher. Its cars-for-sale section displays adverts supplied by a partner network — currently MOTORS/Cazoo — and every sale is between you and the dealer who placed the advert.
Where do Parkers' listings come from?
Since 28 August 2024 they come from the MOTORS/Cazoo network. From September 2022 until then they came from heycar, a partnership that provided access to 80,000 used car ads. Parkers has no stock of its own to fall back on.
How accurate is a Parkers valuation?
It is a guide figure based on the year, trim, mileage and condition you enter, not a binding offer. Treat it as a reference point to test an asking price against, and expect trade offers to sit below it and private sale prices to sit above it.
Is it worth searching Parkers as well as Cazoo?
Rarely. Both draw on the same network stock, so you will see many of the same cars twice. Auto Trader runs a separate inventory pool, which makes it the more productive second search.
Can Parkers help if a car I bought turns out to be faulty?
No. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act run against the dealer who sold you the car. Parkers did not own the vehicle, did not write the advert and is not a party to the contract.
Our verdict
Parkers is the best free research tool in this comparison and the weakest marketplace in it. Use it if you are still deciding which car to buy, want a defensible valuation to take into a negotiation, or need running costs and trim differences laid out clearly — that is work Auto Trader, Cazoo and Carwow all do less well. Do not use it as your main search. Its stock is a borrowed feed from the Cazoo network, it duplicates what you would see on Cazoo and Gumtree, and its depth can change whenever the supply contract does. Buyers who want the widest possible choice should search Auto Trader; sellers should ignore Parkers entirely and go to Carwow, which costs nothing and puts thousands of dealers in competition for the car.
